Xinhan Yu

(Cina, Nanchino, 1996) Xinhan Yu è un artista di origine cinese che utilizza varie tecniche come strumento di critica sociale per esplorare memorie personali e collettive. Si laurea nel 2022 al biennio specialistico in Pittura e Arti Visive presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, dove attualmente vive.Gli interventi di Yu sono sempre visionari, ironici e persuasivi, le sue azioni provocatorie contengono storie e metafore nascoste, che denunciano i problemi della società cinese nell’era moderna in un modo grottesco e allo stesso tempo affascinante. Il desiderio di vendetta, di lavorare e di fuggire dal sistema oppressivo hanno motivato le opere di Yu. Le sue ultime ricerche indagano le strutture di potere e le istituzioni violente.

(CHN, Nanking, 1996) Xinhan Yu is an artist of chinese origin who uses various techniques as a tool for a social critique that explores personal and collective memories. He graduated in 2022 from the two-year specialist program in Painting and Visual Arts at the University of Fine Arts in Bologna, where he currently lives. Yu’s interventions are always visionary, ironic and persuasive, his provocative actions contain hidden stories and metaphors that report the problems of Chinese society in the modern era in a grotesque yet fascinating way. The desire of revenge, work and escape from the oppressive system have motivated Yu’s works. His current research investigates violent power structures and institutions.
